When I was testing out this bike, I was impressed with the geometry. The steep headtube angle gave me responsiveness in the bowls, but the longer chainstay kept me from looping out. I was disapointed that there were no pegs included and I had to buy them separately. Plus the single wall rims felt like they were going to bend when I did a 360. Overall the bike rolled smooth, but for me, i'd be worried about the parts on this bike lasting a long time.

The Sunday Forecaster is a decent quality BMX bike that weighs 26.78 pounds and costs $579. There are many Forecaster variations so make sure you know which one you are buying, This bike is fully customizable and upgradable, and in this post, we’ll help you figure out if it’s right for you or not.

Is the Sunday Forecaster high quality?

For the most part. The Sunday forecaster has a a good amount of 4130 chromoly. Not everything is full chromoly but it’s quite a bit better than the Sunday Scout or the Sunday Primer. I would technically call it “mid-level” quality instead of high quality but i’ll explain why.

This frame material is much stronger and more durable than other types, making it better for handling abuse and doing cool tricks without breaking. Sunday says the forecaster will come with the Stage 1 rims or the Sunday lightning rims, depending on availability. The lightning rims are extra thick side wall and the S1 rims are not so I would definitely double check with whoever you buy the bike from before you purchase.

The bike’s parts, like the frame, are designed to last and withstand the rigors of BMX riding, which speaks to its overall quality.

How does the Sunday Forecaster look?

The Sunday Forecaster looks sick. It’s got a sleek design, feels sturdy, and comes in several cool colors. It’s not just about how it rides, but also how it looks when you’re doing awesome tricks or just cruising around.

It has a ton of different “options”. But the option you choose doesn’t just affect the color of the bike, it has a ton of other changes. For example, one version of the forecaster might be a 20.75″ toptube in red with a cassette and 2 pc bars, while another might be 21″ in black with a left hand drive hub. I’ll break down all of the different options at the bottom.

Is the Sunday Forecaster overpriced?

Kind of. $579 is a lot for a bike that may or may not have single wall rims. The bars are hi-tensile steel instead of chromoly, and the forks are only half chromoly. I like the full chromoly frame and potentially double walled rims, but it’s a really high price.

To give a definitive answer, i’d say yes, the sunday forecaster is overpriced since it’s almost $600 and does not offer full chromoly in the forks and bars. You will be able to find other bikes that are higher quality for the same price.

It’s priced at a premium because it’s a Sunday bike, and you’re paying for the brand as well as the bike. However, it doesn’t have some of the higher-end features like full chromoly forks or double wall rims that you’d expect for the price.

What are the best features of the Sunday Forecaster?

The best features include its full chromoly frame, customizable and upgradable parts, and the option to choose between different geometries and color options.

What makes it stand out is the ability to customize it to your riding style and the inclusion of a hub guard on some versions. It’s special because it’s versatile, allowing for a personalized BMX experience.

Here’s a quick rundown of its cool features:

Color Options Multiple, including a unique left-hand drive option

Sunday Forecaster Variations

The Sunday Forecaster has many different variations and that is what makes this bike so unique. There is the “standard forecaster in maroon, the Aaron Ross signature, the Brett Silva signature, and the Broc Raiford signature. There is also a “Park” version but that is in its own review. Each variation has a few key differences and i will highlight them here so you can pick the right one.

Model Top Tube Length Hub Type Bar Type Drive Side
Sunday Forecaster 20.75″ Freecoaster 4pc RHD
Sunday Forecaster Aaron Ross 20.5″ Freecoaster 2pc RHD
Sunday Forecaster Brett Silva 20.75″ Cassette 4pc RHD
Sunday Forecaster Broc Raiford 21″ Freecoaster 2pc LHD and RHD

About the Sunday Forecaster Aaron Ross Version

The Sunday Forecaster Ross version is Aaron Ross’ signature model of the Forecaster. It is designed to mirror his preferred style and geometry. This model has a 20.5″ toptube and an odyssey clutch freecoaster. You’ll find 2pc bars and a really clean look on this bike. I think that this is the best looking version of the forecaster.

The big difference is the 20.5″ toptube and the freecoaster on this version.

About the Sunday Forecaster Brett Silva Version

The Brett Silva variation of the Sunday Forecaster has a 20.75″ toptube with 4pc handlebars, and a cassette hub. It’s in a bright fire engine red colorway. The quality is the same and the main differences are the toptube size, bar type, and hub type.

About the Sunday Forecaster Broc Raiford Version

The Broc Raiford version is the most unique of all the Forecaster variations. This version has a 21″ toptube, a freecoaster, 2 pc bars and the option of Left hand drive or right hand drive. The quality is the same. The fact that you can choose RHD and LHD is really unique and cool. I also think that this is the second best looking version.

About the Sunday Forecaster Maroon Version

I guess the maroon color is technically the “standard” Forecaster variation. It has 4pc bars, a freecoaster hub, and a 20.75″ toptube.

Honest thoughts

I recommend the Sunday Forecaster from time to time in my BMX Match Maker service, but not all the time. It’s a nice bike with tons of different options, but the quality to price ratio is a little off. It is expensive for what you are getting. Riders who are true Sunday fans or just need one of the many unique options this bike provides will be perfect for this bike.

To be perfectly blunt, the Forecaster comes at a really high price for the quality and it is a little over priced. There are bikes available with better quality for a lower price. The one thing this bike has going for it is the unique options and the style.
