The Sunday Ex arteaga is a high-quality BMX bike that weighs 25.75 pounds and costs $629. This version has a freecoaster hub and a 20.75″ toptube. It is known for being part of Sunday’s lineup with signature models for Julian Arteaga and Erik Elstran. It’s a pretty good bike, and the most affordable sunday bike with full chromoly and double wall rims. In this post, we’ll help you figure out if it’s the right pick for you.
Yes the Sunday Ex is a high quality bike. It has a full chromoly frame, forks, and bars. Along with strong double wall rims and the patented wave downtube design.Â
This bike’s build includes materials and components that ensure durability and performance, making it a solid choice for anyone looking into BMX freestyle or just wanting a cool ride.
It’s important to note, that the Ex may come with single wall rims, so double check which one is in stock before you buy.
The Sunday Ex boasts a sleek design, available in two cool colorways: a 20.75 inch Julian Arteaga cool mint and a 21 inch Erik Elstran gloss gray. Its style is sick, with a modern feel that’s sure to turn heads.
I gotta say, the style is awesome. Between the color options and the overall vibe, it’s got a look that stands out in the BMX scene.
Yes for $629 you’re paying quite a bit for this level of quality. However, I will say it’s not insanely overpriced. You could spend about $100 less and get a very similar quality. But if you do buy the Sunday EX it’s not like you’re getting ripped off. It’s a high-quality bike with high-quality components, and it’s very nice looking.
It’s a premium bike, similar to the high-end brands in the automotive world, but when you break it down, the price tag is a bit more than what you’re getting in terms of components and features. It’s cool, but it’s also on the pricey side.

When it comes to quality, both versions are identical. The big difference between these two bikes lies in the toptube size and the hub type. The Sunday Ex Elstran has a 21″ toptube and a cassette hub, while the Sunday Ex Arteaga has a 20.75″ toptube and a freecoaster hub.
Overall, both bikes are great with full chromoly. Typically the freecoaster version will be a little more expensive.
I’ve always spoken highly about the Sunday EX. I think it’s a much better bike than the Sunday scout and the Sunday forecaster, even though it’s on the expensive side. I’m impressed with the quality and I think the wave down tube is a really cool feature to add on this bike.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. I’m very disappointed in the uncertainty of the rims. This is one of the wackiest things that BMX brand is done in my opinion. When you’re spending $630 on a bike you need to know if you’re getting double wall, rams or single wall. And I understand because of the complexity of getting certain parts during Covid this is what they had to do. But damn it’s 2024 like let’s get it together.
If I could say for sure that this bike came with double wall rims, I would speak more highly of it, but since it’s uncertain what type of rims are gonna be sent on this bike, I have to adjust my tone.
