Kink Launch BMX Bike – BMX Nerd Review
The Kink Launch is a low-quality BMX bike that weighs 26.6 pounds and costs $449. This bike is mostly made of high-tensile steel with a bit of chromoly, making it fairly affordable but not the best option out there. In this post, we’re gonna dive into whether it’s the right choice for you or not.
Is the Kink Launch high quality?
No, the Kink Launch isn’t really high quality.
It’s mainly built from high-tensile steel, which is about four times weaker than chromoly. This means it bends easier and won’t last as long.
Although it has a chromoly steer tube which adds a bit of strength to the forks, the rest of the bike struggles with durability, especially with its all high-tensile steel frame and handlebars, and single-wall rims.
How does the Kink Launch look?
The Kink Launch has a look that’s pretty cool with its three color options for 2024: matte midnight black, cosmos magenta, and galaxy silver. It’s sleek, but let’s be real, it’s not the fanciest bike on the block.
Comparing it to something, it’s like the basic model of a car – it gets the job done but doesn’t turn heads like a luxury model would.
I gotta say, the style is alright, but it’s nothing to write home about. It’s kinda basic.
Is the Kink Launch overpriced?

Yes, given its quality, the Kink Launch is kinda overpriced.
For what it offers, which is a bike mostly made of high-tensile steel and single-wall rims, it doesn’t justify its $449 price tag. You’re paying a lot for not a lot of bike.

What are the best features of the Kink Launch?
The Kink Launch comes with some neat features, like aftermarket Kink Hemlock pedals and an aftermarket Kink Bold HRD stem. It also boasts a sealed integrated headset and a sealed bottom bracket which are nice touches.
What makes it stand out is its full upgradeability and customization options. You can swap out parts as you like, which is pretty cool for making it your own.
Honest thoughts
I’m gonna be real with you, the Kink Launch is a step up from the Kink Curb, but it’s still not that great. It’s built to be affordable, but you’re sacrificing a lot on quality. If you’re between 5 foot 3 and 5 foot 6 and weigh under 130 pounds, it might not be a terrible choice for you. But as you get better and push your limits, you’ll find parts breaking and needing upgrades.
It’s not gonna last as long as bikes with full chromoly frames and components. If you’re just dipping your toes into BMX and don’t plan on getting super serious, sure, give it a whirl. But if you’re looking for something to grow with you as you progress, you’re better off saving up for something more durable.
